In situations where a floor joist is required at the splice box position, we suggest the following: That the Sole plate to the steel beam top flange is bridged over the splice box. The new floor joist can then be hung from a long leg joist hanger which is fixed to the sole plate. This can be achieved with a TECO joist hanger, product type woody long leg. http://www.tecoproducts.co.uk/WoodyLongLeg.htm or similar approved. See Fig 1 & Fig 2. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- Where the new floor is required to run over the beam, incorporate a floor joist at the splice box position and simply trim using joist hangers off the adjacent joists. See Fig 3. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- To accommodate the Splice Box side wall, simply off set the Sole Plate by 10 or 12mm from the top flange of the steel beam. See Fig 1. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------- Remainder of page shows freehand and architects drawings showing more detailed information |
